VALPARAISO, Florida — A Florida woman says what she thought was the perfect baby shower gift turned out to be anything but.

The Palm Beach Post reports Veronica Alvarez-Rodriguez went to a Goodwill store and bought a box that indicated a Baby Einstein’s bouncer was inside. She tells the newspaper the gift, which cost $9.99, was in what appeared to be an unopened box and seemed to be new. She also purchased a baby bathtub toy.

“I was winning. I thought I hit the jackpot with two gifts that were not open,” Alvarez-Rodriguez tells CNN.

She gave the gifts to the expecting mother, Amber Rosas, CNN reports. Rosas and her husband opened the box for the baby bouncer later that day and were stunned by what they found ... a loaded Mossberg 715T semiautomatic rifle, Fox News reports.

Police in Crestview, Florida, are now investigating the incident. The Daily News reports that the gun has not been linked to any criminal activity and has not been reported stolen. However, police are waiting for more information from the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

“You can imagine we get all kinds of crazy things -- some are donated intentionally and some accidentally, so it’s not uncommon for weird things to come through,” said Tamara Williams, Goodwill’s vice president of human resources. “We’ve had someone’s ashes donated.”
